Accumulate 400 hours of sports-related CME or relevant practice experiences, following the AASP model. Qualifying activities can include attending or delivering sports lectures, seeing or discussing relevant patients, participating in group supervision, and attending sports medicine or athlete mental health conferences.

After completing mentorship hours, your mentor will provide you with the 30-question open-book examination to finalize your certification.

If you don’t pass the exam on the first attempt, you can re-take it in the subsequent 6-months without an additional program fee.

Get a list of ABSPP-approved mentors to guide you through 10 hours of live mentorship sessions and case-based discussions (mentorship sessions/hours themselves are not included in the purchase price).

Eligibility
To enroll in the curriculum, you must be an M.D. or D.O. currently holding board certification in psychiatry from either the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS), and you must also have an active medical license in at least one U.S. state.

02. Licensure & Certification
Active licensure to practice medicine in at least one state in the United States is required.
03.Mentorship Hours and Activity Log
The program fee does not include costs related to your 10 hours of 1:1 mentorship. You’ll be responsible for scheduling and covering any associated costs. You must also complete and document 400 hours of sports-related CME or clinical/educational experiences, which will be vetted by your mentor.
04. Ethics & Conduct
Participants must adhere to the principles and standards of the American Board of Sports & Performance Psychiatry’s Ethics Code and must not have lost medical licensure or health systems credentialing due to professional misconduct
05. Exam Eligibility
You cannot sit for the open-book exam until your mentor attests that you have fulfilled both the 10 hours of 1:1 mentorship and the 400-hour requirement.
