Mark Allen, MD

Dr. Mark Allen is a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult mental health. He completed his medical education and general psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, followed by a child psychiatry fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. He later spent a post-fellowship year with the Canterbury District Health Board in Christchurch, New Zealand—an experience that further expanded his global perspective on mental health care.

Dr. Allen has pursued extensive, sport-specific training, including the International Olympic Committee’s Diploma in Mental Health in Elite Sport, the FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, and the International Society for Sports Psychiatry’s Certificate of Additional Training in Sports Psychiatry. He currently serves as Chairman of the American Board of Sports & Performance Psychiatry (ABSPP) and sits on the editorial board for Sports Psychiatry: The Journal of Sports & Exercise Psychiatry.

In his clinical work, Dr. Allen supports athletes across all levels—from high school competitors to Olympic and professional performers. He is honored to serve as the consulting psychiatrist for the Los Angeles Dodgers and as a member of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority’s Medical Advisory Committee. He also contributes to the broader athlete mental health community through advisory roles with The Hidden Opponent and Alston For Athletes, and as a contributor to the youth sports mental performance platform MaxU.
